Shopify Automatic Discounts Issue: Tiered Progress Bar Errors

Hi everyone, Has anyone run into this global issue with the tiered progress bar when using Shopify automatic discounts? The app is calculating the original (pre-discount) product price instead of the discounted price. This means customers can unlock gifts at a much lower spend than intended. The impact is serious:

Direct revenue loss across all affected stores
Gifts being given away below the threshold
Risk to customer trust when they see inconsistent logic

We’ve confirmed that the “use post-discount price” setting does not work as expected. Support has acknowledged the issue, but it’s still unresolved. Since this appears to be a global problem, it could be quietly affecting every store using the tiered bar with Shopify’s automatic discounts. If you’re using this setup, I strongly recommend checking your store immediately. And if you’ve found a workaround, please share — this needs visibility so it’s prioritized.

Hi all - We wanted to confirm the expected behavior with the Tiered Progress Bar (TPB) and what occurs when Shopify Functions and Order discounts are in use. When using the TPB while Shopify Functions is in use, the calculation used in the progression will refer to the PRE-discounted cart subtotal. This is because Shopify ignores discount amounts when calculating the cart subtotal. For example:
Product Tier is set to $50
Product A in cart originally costs $60
A Shopify Order discount of 20% causes the cart subtotal to be at $48.
The TPB will then add the order discount amount ($12) back into the progression.
As a result, we're past the tier threshold.
If the order discount amounts are not added back into the TPB, then we could see an issue where: If an Order Discount tier (say 50%) from the TPB applies at $100, then the post-discounted subtotal would be $50. The progress bar would then show as if it requires $50 more to reach the tier. However, that tier has already been reached and Shopify is already applying the order discount of 50%. The Rebuy team is currently working on the existing logic so that this type of calculation only occurs when a order discount tier is present. So if you are using only a Free Shipping and/or Product Tiers, then the progression will go based on the post-discounted cart subtotal.

Thanks for clarifying, but this is exactly the problem. There should be an option to choose whether the Tiered Progress Bar uses the pre-discount or post-discount subtotal. It’s not a best practice - and frankly unheard of in ecommerce - to have promotional thresholds that don’t reflect the actual cart total after discounts. This setup is misleading to merchants, creates an inconsistent customer experience, and in our case is directly costing revenue. As our developer pointed out, this is happening because the TPB logic is using cart.original_total_price instead of cart.total_price when checking if a tier is reached. That single choice drives the entire issue. Until merchants have the ability to control this in settings, the problem will persist and continue to hurt both store performance and customer trust. Can we get confirmation that this flexibility will be part of the fix?
